It all started with an earlier project, developing and delivering smart tag technology. This covered the hardware (physical tags) and software (web app). The smart tags were designed for a diverse range of uses, such as: luggage tags, fixed asset tags and vulnerable person bracelets.

The common thread was joining the reading technology (QR codes and NFC) with the right form factor to make tag data dynamic and portable.

An encounter with a computer power chord and one of those sticky plastic tags provided the spark. The hand writing was illegible because the box on the flappy form was too small and the nib of the pen too wide. Some of the fields were missing.

It got us to thinking that there had to be a better way.

A smart tag was the answer. It would provide:

• Digitally signed records
• All data as required by the specified standard would be recorded
• Data would be easily read with total clarity
• You could see which company and person had done the test and contact them if necessary
• Promoting a safety-first approach.

So was born the goal of making test & tagging smart.
